Summer Reading for Grades 10-12(unless otherwise specified)
BUILD YOUR OWN Summer Reading Project
Introduction: Studies show reading over the summer is amazing, that it gives students superpowers, that it improves your life, that it keeps your skills sharp, that it is generally awesome. Because San Marin is awesome, we want you to read over the summer.
This is the summer reading assignment for Eng 10, Eng 11, ERWC, and Film as Lit.
Directions: Choose what you will read or study on a topic that interests you.

Requirements:
OPTION 1. Articles & Educational Films/Videos: Read ten articles, OR watch ten informative videos, OR do a combination of both (see above for examples). If you read an article or watch a TED talk, that will count as one entry. Then write the title, author, and a two-paragraph response for each article and video:

OPTION 2. Fiction, Nonfiction & Short Stories: Read one fiction or nonfiction book, or a collection of short stories, and then write 10 responses for that book or collection-- dialectical journals. Write the title and author, relevant or interesting quotes from throughout the book, and a response to the quote providing your thoughts. Responses should be 4+ sentences. For your response consider the context(what is happening), and the importance to the story. You can use the templates above to begin your responses to the quotations.
